Facial cleanser is a basic skin care product, without which it is impossible to maintain the beauty and health of the face. Today you can find a variety of cosmetic products: milk, foams, gels, creams. What products are recommended by professionals and what you should pay attention to when choosing a washbasin, we learned from the popular metropolitan dermatocosmetologist Vladimir Ivkin.
1) Determine your skin type
For normal, damaged, dry and dehydrated skin milk or lotion for washing is suitable. These products do not contain aggressive surfactants that damage and injure the skin barrier. Milk or lotion should also contain useful lipids – fats that form a protective mantle, preventing moisture loss and the development of pathogenic flora on the surface of the epidermis.
For owners combination skin it is worth giving preference to foams and foaming gels for washing. They contain more aggressive surface agents that help to thoroughly cleanse the skin of excess sebum and blackheads.
For oily, porous and breakout prone skinfoaming products that contain acids (for example, salicylic, glycolic, hydroxy acids) are ideal.
2) Read the composition
The main rule of any cleanser is gentle cleansing without damaging the skin. Therefore, it is important that its composition does not contain a high concentration of aggressive surfactants (abbreviated as surfactants).
Avoid these ingredients:
- sodium lauryl sulfate – Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS),
- sodium laureth sulfate – Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES),
- miret sodium sulfate – Sodium Myreth Sulfate (SMS).
3) Apply the product correctly
The cleanser is best applied to the face with massaging movements for 10-15 seconds, and then washed off immediately so that the residue does not damage the skin barrier. And, of course, then you should immediately use care products – lotion or tonic, serum, cream.
