27-year-old Gigi Hadid has released the second collection of her own brand Guest In Residence. The first was introduced in September and was called Workwear (“Workwear”). The new release, presented in a limited edition, was called Varsity Funk (“University Funk”).
“When I came up with the capsule, I wanted to update the traditional attire of kids in school: jackets, rugby shirts and basketball shorts. At the same time, I decided to do something of my own and play with paints, ”said Gigi. As a result, the collection includes cardigans with contrasting stitching, football bombers, sweaters with asymmetrical patterns, and miniskirts. The color palette also includes bright shades: yellow, orange, rich green, and basic ones: white, black, brown, sand, white. The stylists called the main highlight the variability and layering of the preppy drop: things can be layered and mixed, due to the successful color block, they blend perfectly with each other.
The main face of the campaign, as for the first time, was Hadid herself. In the pictures, she poses within the walls of the university, sitting at her desk and playing basketball.
For the opportunity to develop as a designer, Hadid thanked Tommy Hilfiger. Ono met almost 6 years ago and since then have worked on several joint collections of Tommy x Gigi. This forced her to get rid of the impostor syndrome, to believe in her own abilities and see herself in leadership positions.
