
To taste, catfish resembles a sweetish sea bass, and in European countries it is generally considered a delicacy. It should also be borne in mind that the catfish fillet is very tender, so it is important not to overcook it. We will tell you more about all this in our selection of recipes!
1. Catfish in batter and breadcrumbs

For this recipe, it is most convenient to take ready-made catfish steaks, which are sold already cut.
You will need: 250 g catfish, 1 tbsp. flour, 1 tbsp. starch, 3 tbsp. breadcrumbs, 1 egg, spices.
Cooking: Rub the catfish with spices. Dip it in a mixture of flour and starch, then in a beaten egg and breadcrumbs. Fry the fish on both sides in a pan for about 2-3 minutes.
2. Catfish in flour and cream

One of the easiest ways to fry pieces of catfish in a pan.
You will need: 300 g catfish, 2 tbsp. flour, 200 ml cream, spices.
Cooking: Mix flour with spices and roll coarsely chopped catfish in it. Fry the pieces in a pan on all sides, and then pour the cream. Bring to a boil, simmer for a minute and remove from heat.
3. Catfish with tomatoes in the oven

Just 30-40 minutes of action – and now a great dinner or lunch is ready!
You will need: 500 g catfish, 2 onions, 1 carrot, 1 tomato, 2 tbsp. sour cream, 2 tbsp. soy sauce, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, spices.
Cooking: Drizzle the catfish steaks with lemon juice and soy sauce, sprinkle with spices. Grate the carrots, finely chop the onion and put the vegetables in a baking dish. Put the catfish steaks on top, spread the tomato circles on them, brush everything with sour cream and bake in the oven for 35 minutes at 180 degrees.
4. Catfish cutlets

Fatty catfish is very well suited for making juicy fish cakes.
You will need: 800 g catfish, 1/2 bunch of greens, 1 onion, 3 tbsp. semolina, spices, flour.
Cooking: Finely chop the greens, and pass the catfish with onions through a meat grinder. Mix, season and add semolina. Form cutlets, roll in flour and fry on both sides. Then put the cutlets in a mold and bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees.
5. Catfish with frozen vegetables

Any vegetable mix you like will work here. Very fast and easy!
You will need: 700 g catfish, 100 g frozen vegetables, 20 ml vegetable oil, spices.
Cooking: Put some vegetables on foil or parchment, and catfish steaks on top. Sprinkle with spices, sprinkle with vegetable oil and lay out the remaining vegetables. Wrap the envelopes and bake everything together in the oven at 180 degrees for about 35 minutes.
6. Catfish with herbs in a pan

Traditionally, fish is cooked with dill, but for this recipe, we recommend using parsley or cilantro.
You will need: 300 g catfish, 100 g parsley, 6 tbsp. olive oil, 2 tbsp. chopped nuts, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, spices.
Cooking: Roll the pieces of catfish in spices and fry on both sides in a pan or grill. Blend all other ingredients in a blender until smooth green sauce. Put it on pieces of catfish and literally simmer for a minute under the lid.
7. Catfish steak in soy sauce

We tell you how to quickly and tasty bake catfish steak without vegetables and other additives.
You will need: 450 g catfish, 2 tbsp. vegetable oil, 2 tbsp. lemon juice, 30 ml soy sauce, spices.
Cooking: Mix vegetable oil, lemon juice and soy sauce with spices. Marinate catfish in this mixture for about an hour, and then bake in foil for about 30 minutes at 200 degrees in the oven.
8. Catfish hedgehogs

Homemade hedgehogs can be cooked not only from meat, but also from fish. And catfish is the best!
You will need: 500 g catfish, 1/2 onion, 3 tbsp. soy sauce, 3 tbsp. rice, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tbsp. mayonnaise, spices.
Cooking: Soak washed rice for half an hour. Pass the catfish and onion through a meat grinder, and mix with all other ingredients. Form small hedgehogs and put on a hot frying pan. Fill with water about 3/4 and cook under the lid for 25-30 minutes.
9. Catfish steak in sour cream

We advise you not to wrap the catfish in foil in this recipe, because it can completely fall apart.
You will need: 350 g catfish, 4 tbsp. sour cream, 1.5 tbsp. olive oil, spices.
Cooking: Mix sour cream, olive oil and spices. Grease the steaks tooth with this mixture and put in a mold. Bake them in the oven for 30-35 minutes at 190 degrees.
10. Catfish baked with potatoes

Catfish with a potato side dish is best baked in the oven. Minimum preparation – maximum fun!
You will need: 500 g potatoes, 550 g catfish, 1 onion, 1 tbsp. olive oil, spices.
Cooking: Cut potatoes into thin slices and mix with olive oil and spices. Lay it out in a mold and put onion half rings on top, and catfish steaks on them. Sprinkle with spices and bake everything together in the oven at 190 degrees for 30 minutes under foil and another 5-10 without it.
11. Catfish Pie

Fish pie is the perfect choice for the whole family. We offer a great option with catfish and rice!
You will need: 180 g flour, 65 g butter, 150 g cheese, 1 egg, 1 tbsp. kefir, 1 tsp soda, 300 g of boiled rice, 600 g of catfish, 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, 1 egg yolk, 1 tbsp. cream, spices.
Cooking: Mash the cheese and mix with the egg. Grate cold butter on a coarse grater and rub it with flour, kefir and soda. Mix everything together, knead the dough and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour. Roll it into a layer about 1 cm and lay it out in a mold.
Mix boiled rice with spices and oil, and put on the dough. Spread the pieces of the boned catfish on top. Roll out the rest of the dough and lay out with a wire rack. Brush with a mixture of egg yolk and cream, and bake the cake in the oven for about 35 minutes at 180 degrees.
12. Catfish with mushrooms in foil

For this recipe, we recommend adding a little smoked paprika and dried chili to the tomatoes.
You will need: 700 g catfish, 200 g mushrooms, 200 g tomatoes, spices.
Cooking: Roll the catfish steaks in spices and leave for 10 minutes. Cut the mushrooms into slices and fry until cooked, and peel the tomatoes and chop finely. Put mushrooms, tomatoes on pieces of foil, and catfish on them, wrap and bake in the oven for about 40 minutes at 180 degrees.
13. Catfish with rice in the oven

In order not to have to prepare a side dish separately, we offer this recipe – immediately with rice!
You will need: 600 g catfish, 1 cup rice, 1 carrot, 1 onion, 3 tbsp. green peas, 1 garlic clove, spices, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tbsp. olive oil.
Cooking: Drizzle the catfish steaks with lemon juice and roll in the spices. Fry thinly sliced carrots and onions in olive oil. Add green peas there, mix. Add washed rice, mix again and place in a baking dish. Put the fish on top, pour in a glass of water and bake everything under the foil for 40-50 minutes in the oven at 190 degrees.
14. Catfish with green beans

If desired, sprinkle the dish with grated cheese, chopped herbs, sesame seeds or seeds.
You will need: 1 kg of catfish, 2 carrots, 1 bell pepper, 2 onions, 2 cloves of garlic, 400 g of green beans, 3 tbsp. tomato paste, spices.
Cooking: Grate the carrots, finely chop the onion, chop the bell pepper and fry everything together. Add green beans and garlic, mix everything with tomato paste and fry for another minute. Put half of the vegetables in the form, and on them – pieces of catfish grated with spices. Put the remaining vegetables on top and bake everything for about 35 minutes at 190 degrees under foil.
15. Catfish in batter with vodka

Vodka makes the batter surprisingly airy and almost weightless, so we recommend trying this recipe at least once!
You will need: 600 g catfish, 1/2 lemon, 40 ml vegetable oil, 50 g vodka, 1 cup flour, 1 egg, 1/2 cup water, spices.
Cooking: Cut the catfish into pieces, sprinkle with lemon juice, season and leave for 10 minutes. Separate the egg white and beat it to high peaks. Separately, mix the yolk, water and flour, add vodka and vegetable oil. Gently combine both masses, dip slices of catfish in batter and fry in a pan.
16. Paella with catfish

Let’s add some variety to everyday life!
You will need: 300 g catfish, 200 g seafood, 1 glass of rice, 200 g green beans, 1 onion, 2 tomatoes, 1/2 bell pepper, 4 tbsp. white wine, spices.
Cooking: Put the catfish steak and chopped onion in a hot skillet, and lightly fry. Peel the tomatoes from the skin, chop one of them coarsely and send to the onion. Turn catfish over, pour in wine and simmer all 3 minutes. Add spices and all other chopped vegetables.
Pour in about 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Add rice (preferably paella arborio) and top with seafood. Simmer all together over low heat until the rice is cooked through, about 20 minutes.
17. Catfish in a slow cooker

This time, let’s cook catfish steaks in the “Steam” mode. It turns out a delicious dietary dish!
You will need: 300 g catfish, 50 g lemon, 10 g dill, spices.
Cooking: Rub catfish steaks with your favorite spices, drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with chopped dill. Wrap it in foil, put it on a steamer, select the appropriate mode and run for 15 minutes.
18. Catfish in soy batter

By the way, in such a batter, you can add a little more dark beer for flavor and airiness.
You will need: 600 g catfish, 2 tbsp. soy sauce, 5 tbsp. flour, 2 tbsp. vegetable oil, 0.5 tsp soda, 0.5 tbsp. lemon juice, spices.
Cooking: Mix flour, soy sauce and vegetable oil until smooth. Add warm water and dilute the batter to the consistency of sour cream. Add baking soda and lemon juice to the bottom and stir. Cut the catfish into pieces, roll in spices, dip in batter and deep-fry in a large amount of oil.
19. Catfish in creamy sauce

If you think that fish and cream do not mix well with each other, you simply have not had to try such a catfish in a creamy sauce.
You will need: 300 g catfish, 1 onion, 150 ml cream, 1 tsp. flour, spices, 20 ml vegetable oil.
Cooking: Mix the cream with flour and spices until smooth. Lubricate the form with vegetable oil, lay out coarsely chopped onion, and catfish steaks on it. Pour everything with cream and send for 35 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees.
20. Catfish ear

Tender, but rather fatty catfish meat is perfect even for making rich fish soup!
You will need: 600 g catfish, 4 potatoes, 1 carrot, 1 onion, 1 tbsp. oatmeal, spices.
Cooking: Cut the catfish into large pieces, cover with water and boil for 20 minutes. Strain the broth and return the boned fish back. Bring to a boil and add diced vegetables and oatmeal. Boil the ear for 10 minutes until done.
