Bacon is an essential ingredient in British and American cuisines. It perfectly complements hearty breakfasts, it is added to pasta and pizza, salads, pastries and a lot of other dishes are prepared. Its bright expressive taste is simply impossible to replace. Keep a large selection of recipes!
1. Caramelized bacon
You won’t believe it until you try it, but this is an incredibly tasty snack!
You will need: 150 g bacon, 3 tbsp. sugar, 2 pinches of salt, 2 tsp. water.
Cooking: Pour salt and sugar into the pan, add hot water and cook over medium heat until completely caramelized. Put thin strips of bacon in caramel and heat for another minute. Turn over and remove from heat after a minute.
2. Bacon-wrapped baked potatoes
With bacon, potatoes are even tastier, more tender and more aromatic.
You will need: 8 potatoes, 100 g bacon, 100 g hard cheese, 50 g butter.
Cooking: Boil the potatoes in their skins until tender, peel and cut in half. Put a piece of cheese on the halves and cover with the second half. Wrap each potato in a thin slice of bacon and place in a baking dish. Put a piece of butter on top and bake for 25 minutes in the oven at 200 degrees.
3. Mushrooms in bacon
Universal hot appetizer for all occasions.
You will need: 12 mushrooms, 2 cloves of garlic, 100 g of hard cheese, 50 g of butter, 3 tbsp. cream, 12 slices of bacon.
Cooking: Rinse the mushrooms and remove the stems. Finely chop the mushroom legs, grate the cheese, chop the garlic, and mix everything with soft butter and cream. Put the mass in mushroom caps and wrap each with a strip of bacon. Send them to the oven for 15-20 minutes at 190 degrees.
4. Turkey in bacon
The turkey has only one drawback – it is a bit dry. And bacon completely solves this problem!
You will need: 300 g turkey fillet, 200 g bacon, spices.
Cooking: Cut the turkey fillet, beat and sprinkle with spices. Place each piece on a slice of bacon and roll up. Fasten them with toothpicks and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees.
5. Gratin with bacon
There is no need to separately cook meat for this gratin. This is a complete main course!
You will need: 5-6 potatoes, 150 g bacon, 1 onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 200 ml cream, 100 g hard cheese, 50 g butter, spices.
Cooking: Cut the potatoes into thin slices and place in a bowl. Top with chopped bacon and sprinkle with chopped onion and garlic. Mix the cream with grated cheese and spices, and pour over the gratin. Spread pieces of butter on top and put everything in the oven for an hour. The first 45-50 minutes bake under the foil, and then remove it.
6. Carbonara with bacon
A simple and affordable homemade variation of the popular Italian pasta.
You will need: 200 g pasta, 100 g bacon, 50 g parmesan, 3 egg yolks, 200 ml cream, 3 garlic cloves.
Cooking: Finely chop the garlic and fry until golden. Add the sliced bacon and fry for a couple more minutes. Boil the pasta in advance until cooked and put in a pan. Mix the cream, egg yolks and grated parmesan and pour the sauce into the pasta. Warm everything together for 5 minutes.
7. Puff pastry pie with bacon and vegetables
In order not to waste time on the dough, you can use ready-made.
You will need: 200 g puff pastry, 250 g hard cheese, 250 g bacon, 2 eggs, 1 onion, 1 carrot, 1 bell pepper, 50 g green peas, spices.
Cooking: Cut bacon and vegetables into small cubes. First fry the bacon, and then add all the vegetables to it and simmer for 15 minutes. Let the filling cool slightly and mix with eggs and grated cheese. Roll out the dough and put it into a mold. Lay out the filling and cover with another layer of dough, pinch the edges. Bake the cake in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.
8. Vegetable stew with bacon
Not very dietary, but very fragrant, tasty and satisfying recipe.
You will need: 150 g cabbage, 1 bell pepper, 1 onion, 1 zucchini, 80 g bacon, 2 tbsp. water, 2 tbsp. mayonnaise, 1 tbsp. mustard, 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, spices.
Cooking: Cut all the vegetables into strips and chop the bacon. Fry the bacon until golden brown, add vegetables and water, and simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Mix mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard and spices, pour into vegetables and simmer for another minute.
9. Bacon Egg Muffins
These muffins are the best for breakfast.
You will need: 6 eggs, 1 tomato, 12 slices of bacon, greensuh, spices.
Cooking: Whisk the eggs until foamy and add chopped tomato, herbs and spices. Line muffin tins with bacon strips and pour over egg mixture. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees.
10. Meat terrine with bacon
Here and pork, and chicken, and fragrant bacon – an ideal dish for a festive table.
You will need: 450 g minced chicken, 400 g minced pork, 400 g chicken fillet, 150 g bacon, 70 g onions, garlic, spices.
Cooking: Grind onion and garlic in a blender, mix with two types of minced meat and season. Beat it for 5 minutes. Cut the chicken fillet into thin strips, and the bacon into plates. Put a layer of bacon, a quarter of the minced meat, chicken in a mold, tamp down and repeat the layers until the end of the ingredients. The last layer should be minced meat.
Put a container of water in a preheated oven and send the terrine to bake for 2 hours at 170 degrees. An hour later, cover it with foil and continue baking. Let the terrine cool at room temperature and place under pressure in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
11. Pumpkin with bacon
A great combination that is often and undeservedly ignored.
You will need: 600 g pumpkin, 250 g bacon, 1 onion, 3 cloves of garlic, spices, herbs.
Cooking: Cut the bacon into small cubes and fry until golden brown. Set aside and fry the chopped onion separately in the same pan. Add the diced pumpkin, spices and garlic, and fry for another 5 minutes. Lower the heat and simmer until the pumpkin is soft, adding water little by little. Add bacon and chopped greens and remove from heat.
12. Soup with lentils and bacon
There are no potatoes or carrots here – this is such an unusual quick soup.
You will need: 200 g lentils, 200 g onions, 200 g bacon, spices, herbs.
Cooking: Boil lentils until tender. Finely chop the onion and bacon, fry for 5 minutes and send the roast to the lentils. Boil the soup for another 3-5 minutes and add spices with chopped herbs.
13. Rice with Bacon and Egg
Not quite the usual, but very tasty and satisfying dish.
You will need: 150 g rice, 1 onion, 1 garlic clove, 150 g bacon, 3 eggs, 2 tbsp. soy sauce, spices.
Cooking: Boil rice ahead of time. Saute chopped onion with garlic until soft and add chopped bacon. Fry until golden brown, season and beat in the eggs. Continue frying while stirring. Add rice and soy sauce, and fry everything together for another 3 minutes.
14. Baked potatoes with bacon and herbs
Those same stuffed potato boats.
You will need: 4 potatoes, 4 garlic cloves, 2 tbsp. sour cream, 4 slices of bacon, 200 g of hard cheese, 4 green onions, 8 sprigs of herbs, spices.
Cooking: Boil the potatoes in their skins until cooked, cut in half and take out the middle. Mix these middles, crushed garlic, sour cream, grated cheese, bacon, herbs and spices. Put the mass in potato boats and bake in the oven at 200 degrees until golden brown.
15. Soup with bacon, zucchini and celery
This soup is cooked with water, but thanks to the bacon, it acquires a meaty taste and aroma.
You will need: 600 g potatoes, 150 g bacon, 130 g zucchini, 130 g celery, 130 g carrots, 170 g onions, spices, herbs.
Cooking: Finely chop all vegetables and bacon. Fry the bacon right in the pan until golden brown. Add celery, onion and carrots and sauté for 15 more minutes. Add spices, potatoes, zucchini and chopped greens, pour boiling water and cook for about half an hour over low heat.
16. Bacon and Egg Sandwiches
Much tastier and more interesting than regular scrambled eggs, and they are just as easy to prepare.
You will need: 2 slices of bread, 20 g of hard cheese, 10 g of bacon, 1 egg, 2 lettuce leaves, 10 g of butter, 1 tbsp. mayonnaise, 1 tomato.
Cooking: Fry the bacon until golden brown and separately dry the bread in a pan. Lubricate one slice with mayonnaise, and put cheese, tomato slices and lettuce on the second. Fry the egg in butter and put it on the lettuce. Place a strip of bacon on top and cover with bread.
17. Potato soup with bacon
It is prepared from the simplest products and does not require culinary skills at all.
You will need: 4 potatoes, 6 strips of bacon, 2 garlic cloves, 3 tbsp. flour, 1 onion, 1 bunch of herbs, 3 tbsp. grated cheese, 500 ml of broth.
Cooking: Fry the bacon until golden brown and set aside. Fry the chopped onion until golden in the same pan. Add crushed garlic and flour and stir. Pour the broth to the onion, bring to a boil and add the potatoes with spices. Boil the potatoes until cooked and grind everything with a blender. Add shredded cheese and herbs to soup and serve with bacon strips.
18. Braised cabbage with bacon
We advise you to take smoked bacon to make the dish even more flavorful.
You will need: 2 kg cabbage, 200 g onion, 200 g bacon, 1-2 tbsp. tomato paste, spices.
Cooking: Finely chop the cabbage, finely chop the onion and chop the bacon. Fry the bacon and onions for a couple of minutes, add cabbage and simmer over low heat under the lid for half an hour. Add all the spices and tomato paste, and simmer for another 7 minutes.
19. Bacon and Onion Muffins
They are good both immediately from the oven, and later – when they have cooled.
You will need: 300 g flour, 100 g bacon, 2 eggs, 0.5 onions, 1 bunch of herbs, 200 ml milk, 4 tbsp. vegetable oil, 10 g baking powder, spices.
Cooking: Finely chop the onion and bacon and fry until golden. Beat butter, eggs and milk with a mixer. Add flour with spices and baking powder. And then add chopped greens, bacon and onions. Spread the mass into molds and bake for 20-25 minutes in the oven at 190 degrees.
20. Lavash rolls with bacon
A simple and quick snack that will easily replace the usual sandwiches.
You will need: 2 sheets of pita bread, 4 tomatoes, 100 g of bacon, 2 fresh cucumbers, 2 pickled cucumbers, 200 g of ham, 1 bunch of herbs, 100 g of mayonnaise.
Cooking: Cut all the ingredients into thin strips. Fry the bacon until golden brown and chop the greens. Lubricate the sheets of pita bread with mayonnaise, randomly spread the filling, roll tight rolls and wrap them in a film. Send for an hour in the refrigerator and cut.
