It is impossible to imagine Hungarian cuisine without paprikash, known far beyond the borders of the native country. Paprika stew is the main thing if we are talking about paprikash. But then the nuances of cooking begin, and we have already collected 12 of the most interesting recipes in this collection!

1. Chicken Paprikash

Classic chicken paprikash – the household will be delighted.

You will need: 1 chicken fillet, 1 bell pepper, 1 tomato, 1 onion, 1 tbsp. flour, 1 tbsp. sour cream, 1 tsp paprika, spices.

Cooking: Finely chop the onion and fry until golden. Add the diced chicken and fry for another 6-7 minutes. Add flour, spices and sour cream, and pour in water or broth so that the liquid completely covers the meat. Carcasses 8 minutes. Add finely chopped pepper and tomato, and cook for another 20 minutes over low heat.

2. Beef paprikash

Cooking paprikash takes a long time, but the process itself is very simple.

You will need: 700 g beef, 2 bell peppers, 125 g sour cream, 2 tbsp. paprika, 1 purple onion, spices.

Cooking: Cut the sweet pepper into a cube, the onion into half rings, and the meat into small pieces. Fry the beef until golden brown, add onion, and after 3 minutes – pepper. Add paprika and all spices, and after another 5 minutes – a little water or broth. Simmer paprikash for 40 minutes over low heat, add sour cream and simmer for another 10 minutes.

3. Fish paprikash

Try with different fish – white or red, whichever you prefer.

You will need: 300 g fish fillet, 1 garlic clove, 1 bell pepper, 300 g chopped tomatoes in their own juice, 1 onion, 3 tbsp. sour cream, half a glass of water, 1.5 tbsp. paprika, spices.

Cooking: Cut the fish, roll in flour with spices and lightly fry. Separately, fry the thinly sliced ​​onion with chopped garlic. Add pepper to them and after another 5 minutes – tomatoes, paprika and water. Simmer a little more and put the fish in. After another 7 minutes, add sour cream, and after another 5 – remove the paprikash from the heat.

4. Paprikash in a slow cooker

Paprikash needs to be thoroughly simmered, and a slow cooker is ideal for this.

You will need: 750 g chicken breasts, 2 onions, 4 bell peppers, 2 apples, 2 tomatoes, 1 bunch of herbs, 2 tbsp. flour, 2 tbsp. paprika, 125 g sour cream, 150 ml vegetable oil, spices.

Cooking: Cut all the vegetables into medium pieces, the chicken into a cube, and the apples into slices. Send some of the oil and all the vegetables to the slow cooker, and turn on the “Frying” mode. After 10 minutes, add the floured chicken. After another 5-7 minutes, add apples, sour cream, paprika and spices. Turn on the “Extinguishing” mode for half an hour. At the end, add greens.

You will need: 800 g mushrooms, 1 onion, 3 tbsp. paprika, 150 ml of water, 4 cloves of garlic, 100 g of butter, 150 ml of sour cream, 1.5 tbsp. flour, spices.

Cooking: Fry finely chopped garlic and onion in butter. Add coarsely chopped mushrooms, also fry and then add paprika. Pour in water, mix everything, bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. Mix sour cream with flour and spices, pour in the same and simmer paprikash for the last 10 minutes.

6. Vegetable paprikash with zucchini and tomatoes

Despite the fact that there is no meat at all, the dish turns out to be very satisfying.

You will need: 400 g zucchini, 150 g bell peppers, 150 g tomatoes, 130 g onions, 170 g sour cream, 1 tbsp. flour, 50 ml of water, 1 bunch of greens, 1 tsp. smoked paprika, spices.

Cooking: Cut all vegetables into small cubes. Fry the onion until translucent, and then, at intervals of 3-5 minutes, add pepper, zucchini and tomatoes in turn. Stir sour cream, water, flour, paprika and spices, pour over vegetables and simmer for another 10-15 minutes. At the end, add chopped greens.

7. Turkey paprikash

Diet turkey is very low in calories, but at the same time very juicy.

You will need: 400 g turkey fillet, 2 onions, 1 bell pepper, 0.5 tbsp. tomato paste, 60 g sour cream, 120 ml water or broth, 1 tomato, 1 tbsp. flour, 1 tbsp. paprika, spices.

Cooking: Cut the turkey into cubes, mix with paprika and spices, and lightly fry. Put it aside. In the same pan, fry finely chopped onion, then add pepper, and after a couple of minutes, peeled grated tomato.

Stew for 2 minutes, put the turkey in the same place, add tomato paste and fill everything with broth. Continue to simmer paprikash for 15-20 minutes after boiling over low heat. Add sour cream mixed with flour and spices and simmer for another 5 minutes.

8. Pork paprikash with beans

One of the classic Hungarian recipes. This paprikash does not require a side dish!

You will need: 500 g of meat to taste, 1 onion, 200 g of celery root, 3 cloves of garlic, 2 bell peppers, 2 tbsp. paprika, 2 tbsp. sour cream, 1 can of tomatoes in their own juice, 200 g cream cheese, 4 tbsp. flour, 1 egg.

Cooking: Cut the meat into medium pieces, fry until golden brown and set aside. In the same pan, fry finely chopped onion with garlic and celery. Then add pepper and paprika, and after 5 minutes – tomatoes and spices.

Add sour cream, return the meat to the sauce, pour in a little water and simmer for half an hour on minimum heat. Beat cream cheese with egg and flour, roll the dough into a tourniquet and cut into small sticks. Boil them for 4-5 minutes in boiling water, send them to the prepared paprikash, mix and heat for another minute.

You will need: 500 g pumpkin, 30 g smoked bacon, 2 onions, 2 bell peppers, 150 g sour cream, 1 tbsp. flour, 1 tbsp. paprika, spices.

Cooking: Finely chop the onion and bacon, and fry together for 5 minutes. Add diced pepper, paprika and spices, pour in half a glass of water and simmer all 5 minutes over medium heat.

Cooking: Cut all vegetables, apples and chicken into medium cubes. Fry the chicken until golden brown over high heat and set aside. Fry the onion in the same pan. After 3 minutes, add pepper, and after another 2 – paprika and flour.

Then add tomatoes and apples, after a couple of minutes, return the chicken back. Pour in some water and simmer the paprikash under the lid over low heat for 10-15 minutes. At the end, add a little cream or sour cream, if desired. Add chopped parsley and remove everything from heat.
